This Texas-based songwriter and performer has a
reputation for being a tireless artist gigging hundreds
of shows a year while painting on the off days. He’s
won Austin’s Songwriter-of-the-Year award multiple
times, plus built a rabid national audience based
primarily on word of mouth recommendations.
Jimmy LaFave – We’re bringing a little red dirt to the Palace stage with singer/songwriter, Jimmy LaFave. A local boy, Jimmy moved from his small hometown in Texas to Stillwater, Oklahoma and it was in this landscape that he began to define his sound and soak up a combination of his experiences among authentic songwriters from the tradition of Woody Guthrie. Now he resides back in Austin, TX and he’s been writing and performing great music. Encouraged by his friend, fellow Austin artist Eliza Gilkyson, Jimmy LaFave signed with indie label Red House records, and in 2005 released Blue Nightfall. This stunningly soulful album was LaFave’s first in 4 years and won him much critical attention. LaFave’s new album Cimarron Manifesto finds Jimmy taking a more country road, with sweet and mournful songs about life and loss and special guest appearances by Carrie Rodriguez, Ruthie Foster and Kacy Crowley.
Del Castillo – Del Castillo has become a symbol of the cross-cultural power of music with their eclectic blend of Flamenco, Rock, Latin, Blues, and World music. It all began in late 2000 when Rick and Mark del Castillo decided to put together an album of Latin/Flamenco-style songs for their parents and friends in their hometown of Brownsville, Texas. Brotherhood, the band’s third CD, was released in the Spring of 2006 and it was immediately acclaimed by the media across the board. Billboard Magazine said, “…Whether Del Castillo works in Spanish or English, it rocks righteously…They pull together Latin music’s romance and rock’s grit.” At SXSW 2007, Brotherhood won “Album of the Year” at the 2006/2007 Austin Music Awards. The band continues to tour throughout the country, thriving on performing live and building new audiences, and songwriting and recording are a priority during breaks in their tour schedule. Catch Del Castillo as they bring their eclectic style to the Palace Theatre.

Melange Musical – Melange Musical is a Grapevine-based ensemble comprised of professional musicians with extensive experience performing with orchestras throughout the United States. Co-founders Susan Hilliard and Iris Messinger strive to create ensembles whose skills are superior, but whose performances are accessible to the general public.

Zack King Band – So local, they hang out right here on our historic Main Street! The Zack King Band is no stranger to Grapevine and they will be bringing their unique sound to the Palace Theatre. They will Three musicians from three very different backgrounds each brought with them an individual style that helped create the group's unique sound. Zack King (Vocals/Guitar) hails from Southern Louisiana where he grew up listening to blues & southern rock. Rob Fenton (Drums/Percussion) brought with him from Upstate New York a hard-hitting, heavy rock style while Kevin Strang (Bass) brings his jazz and R&B background from the North Philly area. These three distinct styles have blended to create a very unique rock sound.
Renowned for his electric acoustic guitar performances,
Montgomery has been called “one of the top 50
all-time greatest guitarists.” PBS-TV show Austin City
Limits said it best, “Monte Montgomery blows
people away.” Currently one of the hottest draws
on the talent-packed Austin music scene, his energetic
performances are legendary.

From the fertile North Texas jazz scene, an evening at
a Paul Slavens show is a one of a kind event.
Possessing a unique skill for making something out
of nothing, Mr. Slavens takes song title suggestions
from the audience and turns them into full blown
compositions, while the audience watches, listens and laughs! Don't miss it!
Distinguished by her gorgeous, incandescent songs
and fiercely independent spirit, Sara once said of herself,
"I kind of stick myself in the same boat with a Michelle
Shocked and Lyle Lovett, in that they're quirky, too.
There's not a place for us in the world, so we just keep
making music because that's what we love to do."
Sara brings what she loves to do to the Palace stage
and you won’t want to miss it.

Indian and South Asian music and dance are among
the oldest and finest forms of expressing human passions:
ecstasy, agony, hope, sorrow, desire, apathy. Enjoy an
evening devoted to exploring two major streams
known as the Margi (classical) and the Desi (folk)
styles. Find yourself transported to a faraway land of
dreams and passion.

Deep Blue Something - It all began to explode in 1995 for Texas alterna-popsters Deep Blue Something. Truly living the Rock-N-Roll dream, they had independently released a low budget record ("Home"), found radio and sales success with that record, and ultimately got signed to Interscope records-all on their own terms. World tours, multiple gold and platinum awards, and television appearances, is the dream of every band. "Breakfast at Tiffany's" became one of the hottest singles of 1995/96, reaching #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Interscope's first #1 in the UK, and charting top five all over the world. Follow up singles "Halo" and "Josey" also received much international success, and the band appeared on Britain's "Top of the Pops" no less than four times. Local boys from Denton, TX, they will bring their music back home on our very own Palace stage.
