Millie Dillmount goes from naïve Kansas gal to big city glamour-girl in the Tony Award-winning comedic musical THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE. When spirited, young Millie steps off the bus in 1922 New York, she shortens her skirts, bobs her hair and begins her quest for a rich husband. Things go awry, however, when her wealthy boss falls for someone else, and her scheming landlady begins selling her roommates off to a white slavery ring. To make matters worse, Millie is mad about a man without a dime to his name. With a jazzy score, frisky flappers and bright dance numbers, this show is a thoroughly delightful musical romp through the roaring twenties.

Productions at Ohlook Performing Arts Center, 316 Barton Street, Grapevine:

PROFESSIONAL SUMMER STOCK COMPANY

This summer will mark the first season of our new professional summer stock company. Our summer stock company is designed to bridge the gap between high school and the professional world. At Ohlook our main goal is to help and train young actors and singers. As our students graduate high school and enter college many times they find themselves in a limbo land - too old for "high school" productions and yet not quite there for professional programs. This sometimes leads to them not getting much stage time and performing opportunities. Summer Stock Company was created for this reason. The productions picked for this company are more cutting edge and the company will be treated as a professional company. There is no age limit for the company but due to the subject matter of some of the productions there is a beginning age.

We hope you'll join us for the inaugural season of the Summer Stock Company - the first of which we hope will be many to come!

We’re calling this the “Summer of Blood”:

Ohlook's Professional Summer Stock Presents

By Kevin Murphy and Dan Studney

This show is rated PG-13 due to mild language and subject matter

"Reefer Madness: the musical" is a satire of the 1930s propaganda film. It begins with a narrator discussing the effects of marijuana to a group of parents, and then goes into the film depicting a situation where marijuana ruined a life. He tells the Harper Affair, a story of a young high school student whose life is turned upside down by the "demon weed." He spends all of his time in the Reefer Den ignoring his family, school, and most importantly his girlfriend. Jimmy's sudden addiction even draws the interest of a Tom Jones-like portrayal of Jesus. He realizes the error of his ways too late. His girlfriend is shot and killed. It is over the top and campy. The script is fun, and the songs are hilarious and catchy.

BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL

Based on the events chronicled in The Weekly World News, BAT BOY is the story of a half-boy/half-bat creature that is discovered hiding in a cave near Hope Falls , West Virginia by a group of adventure seekers. Bringing him home to the townsfolk of Hope Fall both shocks and intrigues this sleepy community, setting the tone for this roller coaster musical-comedy. If you like THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW you'll love BAT BOY!

This instant cult classic will delight audiences with its imaginative rock score and hysterical characters! The book by Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming has transformed this headline into a musical comedy of enormous proportions. This high octane musical is jam-packed with great songs, palpitating rhythms and campy dialogue. Somewhere between ROCKY HORROR and LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, you’ll find BAT BOY, a wacky new musical with both tongue and fang set firmly in cheek. This off-the-wall winner blends wit, irony, and intelligence in a feast of the imagination. Laurence O’Keefe’s upbeat score mixes rock, Broadway, gospel, and country styles, this exuberant hit combines ridiculous fun with compelling comedy. This show ribs the conventions of musical theater, defies easy categorization and frequently fools audiences’ expectations. BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL shocks and entertains at the same time while delivering a poignant point about acceptance .
